Do you ever catch yourself having a moment that lacks clarity but not entitlement? We all have. Blaming others where there is no blame to pass and overreacting are sure signs you need to check in with yourself and breathe? Expand that fraction of a second that lives between the action and your reaction. You’ll be happier in the long run, and probably the short too!
We’ve been traveling around the world for several years now leading retreats and we’ve seen some incredible places. Haramara remains at the top of the list and the place we go back to year after year without hesitation. If you like the idea of being as close to nature as you can be without camping, and looking take time to recharge on your own or as part of an organized group retreat, this is the place.
I’ve learned so much over the past 4 years, but I think the most important thing is this idea of seeking out purpose. Which now means listening to the things that light me up inside — things that scare me, excite me, bring me joy, even bring me extreme discomfort or an immediate “hell no” reaction - even the things we are averted to are there to teach us something. Things that light us up are guiding lights. They’re arrows pointing us in the direction we should go. Follow them and purpose starts to get pieced together.
Even though I teach yoga for a living, I still manage to spend most of my days behind a desk, running the daily operations at the yoga studio and working on our retreats. If I don’t make myself get up to take (or teach) a yoga class, I’m capable of not getting out of my chair for 12 hours. No bueno!
It really is about who you’re with rather than where you are. Portugal is a stunning country with beautiful rolling hills, vineyards as far as the eye can see and gorgeous red tiled roofs and colorful buildings. But it wasn’t the typical location we look for: stunning beachfront accommodations or jungle cabanas where you sleep among the crickets. his trip was different, and magical beyond words.
One of the first questions I often get, sometimes just minutes after the first retreat participant arrives, is “tell me about your workouts?” or I overhear a conversation between two or more participants asking if they know anything about the workouts.
There is nothing worse than getting a amazing trip all lined up and then finding that the only way to make it happen is if you are traveling by horse and buggy.
I have been collecting tips for saving money on airfare for several years and I finally compiled them into a list for you here.
Our Yoga, Fitness & Adventure retreat to Keramas, Bali in September 2018 was one for the books! 16 people from Australia, New Zealand and the US joined forces for an unforgettable week in one of the most culturally rich and spiritually moving places in the world.
We recently wrapped up a trip to Bali for a retreat and oh what an awesome time we had.
We hiked a volcano to watch the sun rise, did yoga and ME workouts, made great friends while putting people out of their comfort zone and had lots of fun! Still living a rest-based life on a beautiful resort. But there's just one problem.
